Stunning silver tribal amulet on a multi-strand garnet necklace.
This pendant was made by the nomadic Kuchi people in Afghanistan. The material is "gillet" metal, which is about three-fourths brass, mixed with copper, silver, iron, or all three. The surface is buffed with a thick silver plating that is very durable. The glass stones were set with beeswax originally, but some may have been replaced at some point over the years using jeweler's glue.
The necklace measures 16 inches around, and the amulet is two inches long. It falls just under the collarbone. Garnet amulet necklace.
