flowing sheer blue silk chiffon wrap with light metallic gold embroidery.
This wrap was created from vintage pure silk chiffon bridal sari. The edges are embroidered with light gold thread, sequins, gems, and beads. Light gold embroidery and sequins are scattered across the rest of the scarf.
This shawl is 64 inches by 40 inches.
The fabric is in excellent shape and has a beautiful drape and swing as you move.
This embroidery is done with zari thread, which is a metallic, wound thread. Traditionally, the threads were gold, silver, and other precious metals. Zari means "beautiful" in Swahili. That's you in this shawl!
Hand wash this scarf in cool water. Hang or lay flat to dry.
note: please don't try to put these in the dryer, even if it's low or no heat. the little beads and sequins catch on the delicate fabric and create tears. NO GOOD!!! i've learned this the hard way. :(
Press on gentle heat under a cotton cloth, or steam.
I purchase saris from a single mother in Delhi, who runs her own business selling vintage and antique fabrics. She acquires these saris from women during trips to remote villages throughout India. In this way, she provides a much-needed income to these villages and to herself and her son. It's very cool being a part of this network!
This is a vintage sari and may have signs of wear such as small, light stains or tiny holes. I do my very best to insure that each piece is as close to perfect as possible, but please remember that they came from saris that have been worn and loved by one or more women. If there is something that is unacceptable to you, that I missed, I will gladly take the piece back.
